Personal experience
Dr. Mundae earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine, where he graduated with distinction in medical education. As a medical student, he cofounded a biomedical incubator company which helped student-run medical start-ups commercialize their products. He then pursued his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota, where he was recognized with the Vitreoretinal Surgery Foundation Research Award for his contributions to retinal surgery research.
Dr. Mundae completed his fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at New York University, where he trained under world-renowned mentors, including Dr. Lawrence Yannuzzi and Dr. Bailey Freund, at NYU Langone Health and the Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York. He also received extensive training in managing complex diabetic retinal detachments and other challenging medical and surgical retinal cases at Bellevue Hospital, one of the nation's oldest and most historic hospitals.
Dr. Mundae is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists, and he is board certified in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Mundae will be seeing patients in both our Kearny Mesa and Oceanside offices.
