Personal experience

Dr. Nguyen joined San Diego Retina Associates in September of 2019 after completing his undergraduate education at the University of California – Los Angeles and went on to earn his MBA at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. He graduated from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University and supplemented his medical degree with Healthcare Administration and Management. For his compassionate patient care and scholastic achievement, he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Nguyen completed his ophthalmology residency at Montefiore Medical Center – Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, where he was elected chief resident in his final year. Dr. Nguyen completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he received the 2019 Outstanding Clinical Fellow Award for his dedication to teaching and excellence in patient care.

Dr. Nguyen is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists. He is also board certified in Ophthalmology and has been involved in research studies, published articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented his work at national meetings, and co-authored a chapter on fibrosis in macular degeneration.

Dr. Nguyen sees patients in both our Kearny Mesa and Oceanside offices.
